How Our Garage Door Referral Works
SETX Garage Door is a referral website, not a garage door company. We send your request to one independent local garage door company. You never pay us; companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals.
Who we are
SETX Garage Door is run by The Gadget Aid, LLC, a New Jersey limited liability company. We publish this website and pass homeowners' requests to a local garage door company. We have no technicians, trucks or parts, and we don't repair, install or inspect garage doors.
The guides here were written from published sources: the National Weather Service, the Texas Department of Insurance, the Texas Windstorm Insurance Association, city building departments in Jefferson and Orange counties, the door industry's trade group (DASMA) and national cost guides. Each page lists its sources at the bottom. Prices on this site are national ranges, not quotes.
What happens to your request
- You fill in the form. It asks for your name, phone number, town, the service you need, how soon, and an optional note. To start, send a request with the form.
- We send it to one company. Your request goes to one independent local garage door company that serves the area, not to a list of companies.
- The company contacts you. It may call you to talk through the problem. Pricing and scheduling come from that company, and it will tell you whether it can take the job.
- You decide. You don't have to hire the company. Any agreement is between you and it.
How this site is paid for
You never pay us. Companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals, which is how the site is funded. We don't add anything to your bill, and we don't set the company's prices, terms or schedule.
What we don't do
- We don't do, inspect or supervise any garage door work.
- We don't give quotes, set prices or take payment for repairs.
- We don't promise the company's availability, prices or work.
- We don't give insurance, windstorm-inspection, legal or building-code advice. For those, ask your insurance agent, the Texas Department of Insurance (800-248-6032) or your city's building department.
- We don't send marketing texts.
What to ask any garage door company
Whether you hire the company we refer you to or another one:
- What's the total, in writing? Parts, labor, and any trip or service-call fee.
- Can I see proof of liability insurance? TDI tells homeowners to make sure a garage door contractor has insurance or a bond.
- What parts are you installing? Spring size and cycle rating, or the door's brand, model and wind rating.
- Ask about warranty terms on parts and labor, and get them in writing.
- Is a permit or windstorm inspection needed, and who handles it? This matters most for a new door in Jefferson County.
- Do you want payment up front? TDI warns about contractors who take only cash or want payment before materials are on site.
Questions or complaints
If you have a problem with the company you were referred to, contact it first. If that doesn't fix it, or if you want us to stop sending your requests, email [email protected]. We can stop referring requests to a company that doesn't treat homeowners fairly.
SETX Garage Door is a referral website, not a garage door repair company, and does not do the work. We send your request to one independent local garage door company. You never pay us; companies we refer you to may pay us for referrals. Prices, scheduling and the work itself come from that company. Check any company's credentials and get written terms before you hire. How this works.
